Node allocation issues on Fritz

Dear PTfS students,

we are aware of the node allocation problems on the Fritz cluster. Instead of using the standard (Ice Lake) Fritz nodes, you can also use one of the Sapphire Rapids nodes. Currently (9:23 p.m. CEST), several nodes in the spr2tb partition are idle. You can allocate one of them by adding the option "-p spr2tb" to your salloc or sbatch command line.

Please note that these nodes have 52 cores per socket (13 cores per ccNUMA domain). Also the memory bandwidth of one ccNUMA domain is different from the Ice Lake CPUs. Adapt your benchmarking and predictions accordingly. No credits will be deducted if you choose an SPR node.

The assignment deadline will be extended to Thursday 12:15 p.m.

Best

Georg.
