Clarification for Assignment 4, exercise 3b)

Hi guys,

I‘m a little confused… In the current assignment, exercise 3b) it says „[…] when the clock speed is reduced by the factor 1.8“ —> isn‘t a factor of 1.8 an increase of 80%? Or is this exercise to be understood in a way that (delta_f / f0) == 1.8? Or is 1.8 * f_reduced == f0?

Dear Jonka,

I admit that this can be confusing, but if we had written "... is reduced by a factor of 2" there would be no confusion at all, right? It just means that f/f_0=1/1.8, i.e., f=f_0/1.8, where f_0 is the base frequency and f is the new frequency.

Best,
Georg.

Thanks! The more over-engineering you do, the more confused you get. But 1/1.8 is not "a reduction factor of 1.8" to me because 1/1.8 != 1.8. But I got it now =). Thank you!
